Member Spotlight: John A. Cattani
John Cattani is accounting manager for St. Charles Borromeo Parish Federal Credit Union (+ $50 million in assets) in Parma, Ohio. A native Ohioan from the Cleveland area, John has been involved with credit unions for over 37 years in various roles, including treasurer/manager, manager, and accounting manager. John lives in Rocky River with Judy, his wife of 34 years. Their daughter Karen recently graduated from Toledo University and lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. Biggest challenge Dealing with mergers and branches. We opened our first branch in April 2007 as a result of a merger and opened another branch in October as a result of our expanding field of membership. Another branch is in the works as a result of another merger. Trying to keep the books straight with all of this going on will be my biggest challenge Best advice Try to keep ahead of everything going on. Keep your priorities straight to succeed. Greatest benefit of Council membership The library and the CFO Conference. I am looking forward to the next conference in Sanibel Island , Florida . The Listserv and the library make it easy to share information. Best part of my job Working with the people here at the credit union. I am doing the things that I do best and hope to prove myself worthy of being CFO. Hardest part of my job Getting my work done without being interrupted. Success story I took over for a manager who quit abruptly. I "held down the fort" until a CEO was hired. After our new CEO came on board, I was kept as accounting manager. Hobbies and interests Golf, bowling, and coaching youth volleyball for Catholic youth organizations. I have been coaching volleyball for the past 17 years—we had a team that won the City of Cleveland championship in 2003. People would be most surprised to learn that . . . I was once a federal credit union examiner in1970 (before computers!). I quit a few months later—it was not my "cup of tea"! Recent book Life goal not yet accomplished Being a big bad CFO. Something that always makes me laugh Good clean jokes. If I had an extra hour in the day . . . I would sleep. CommentsThanks
For taking the time to post me in the spotlight.
