Biggest challenge

Continuing to learn about the credit union industry and the world of not-for-profit accounting, as well as mastering the ALM process.

Best advice

Surround yourself with knowledgeable people, and listen to everyone’s view.

Greatest benefit of Council membership

The ability to bounce ideas off of the other members. This type of sharing of ideas is NOT commonplace in other industries and has been a refreshing change. The information that is shared on a variety of topics has been invaluable to me as a "neophyte" CFO. It has shortened my learning curve tremendously.

Best part of my job

The ability to have a direct impact on an organization’s growth and decision-making process.

Hardest part of my job

Finding people who share the same level of commitment.

Success story

Complete re-organization of our accounting processes within two months of accepting the position, which brought us into the 21st century.

Hobbies and interests

Golf (6 handicap), basketball, spending time with family.

People would be surprised to learn that I . . .

Have a pretty good sense of humor (it doesn't come out much in the office).

Recent book

The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama.

Life goal not yet accomplished

Visiting Australia.

Something that always makes me laugh

My two-year-old daughter.

If I had an extra hour in the day . . .

I would spend it with my family.
